About Wave

Our Strategy

A shift from farm-level action to catchment-level stewardship

Our Vision

A catchment in balance where water inflows, outflows, and storage are sustainably managed to support healthy, biodiverse ecosystems and enhance livelihood

Our Mission

Contribute to the sustainable use of water resources, enhancing the resilience of agricultural production.

Our Goals

  • More sustainable, regenerative, water-resilient farming practices
  • Stronger enabling environments
  • More resilient supply chains

Farm Level

The Partnership works closely with the Aconcagua Network to support more climate- and water-resilient agricultural practices.

The Aconcagua Network brings together15 growers managing approximately 5,000 hectares of agricultural land, alongside significant areas dedicated to conservation.

At farm level, we focus on supporting the transition towards more regenerative and water-resilient production by:

  • Building a clear understanding of current water use, farm performance and agricultural practices
  • Accelerating the adoption of regenerative agriculture and water stewardship practices

Supply Chain Level

The Partnership works with international buyers and supply chain companies to align priorities, strengthen support for growers, and connect sourcing decisions with water stewardship and regenerative agriculture in the Aconcagua Valley.

Current supply chain partners include Nature’sPride, Salling Group, Westfalia Fruit, and DoleFood Company.

At this level, we focus on strengthening collaboration across the value chain by:

  • Improving access to relevant farm - and catchment-level data
  • Aligning partners around shared sustainable sourcing and water stewardship priorities
  • Identifying how buyers can support grower transition and implementation
  • Developing credible approaches to reporting and communicating progress

Enabling Environment Level

The Partnership creates a platform for dialogue, coordination and knowledge exchange between growers, supply chain partners, public institutions and other actors in the Aconcagua basin.

We engage with key governmental and sector organisations to connect farm-level experience with wider regional priorities and identify opportunities for collaboration.

At this level, we focus on:

  • Strengthening coordination between public, private and producer actors
  • Connecting evidence and experience from farms with wider water management and regional discussions
  • Identifying opportunities for public-private collaboration, funding and support for implementation
Key public and industry stakeholders gathered at the Embassy of the Netherlands in Santiago to strengthen the enabling environment for the Aconcagua Partnership (2025), including representatives from DGA, Ministry of Environment, Corfo, Frutas de Chile, Perfruts and the Regional Government of Valparaíso.

Wins of WAVE Aconcagua

Key achievements to date:

  • Completing water footprint baseline assessments, moving to a better understanding of the farm-level water footprint and water gap
  • Creating structural dialogue between farmers and the Water Management Authority and Ministry of Public Works where there was none before
  • Participating in a new catchment-level multi-stakeholder platform, Mesa Hídrica, representing the combined group of farmers, retailers, and importers
  • Hiring a Country Director carries out local governance among farmers, leads structural dialogue with government, supports local ownership and a long-term locally-owned strategy and program
  • Fostering knowledge exchange on irrigation, conservation, and innovation amongst farmers to reduce water use and build climate resilience
  • Building awareness among farmers on the connection between the health of their farms and the state of the Aconcagua catchment
  • Strengthening Dutch leadership on water and food security in Chile via its embassy in Santiago and the Partners for Water program
  • Driving a mindset shift among retailers and importers from certification-only towards dedicated, long-term commitment to a sourcing area
  • Co-developing a shared data monitoring & sourcing principles framework
